Yellowfin sole is the target of the largest flatfish fishery in the world. Alaska is responsible for the majority of the worldwide yellowfin sole catch, harvesting over 311 million pounds in 2009. Yellowfin is typically fished from late winter through autumn, and most of the harvest is taken during the spring and summer.
